Q) A blank page can be exciting because anything is possible, but it can also be intimidating because there’s nothing there yet. Which feeling did you have when NOTES first began?

A) Honestly, when we first started, I think I felt more excited than overwhelmed because there were so many choices we could make.  

Q) What are your goals as a group? Is there something specific you would like to achieve?

A) We are in a structure where it is difficult to set a definite goal and work toward it, so we are currently proceeding flexibly, discussing things with each other as they come. But if there is something we especially want to accomplish, I think it would be to become a duo who are memorable and leave a lasting impression.

Q) If you could collaborate with any artist on your next album, who would you want it to be?

A) Honestly, I think it would be such an honor just to collaborate with anyone, so my answer is that anyone would be okay~ (In English) Very, very happy! 

Q) If you had to describe each other in 3 words, what would it be?

A) Chaeeun: I choose “사항해” (love) “노가현” (Noh Gahyun) and “소중해” (precious).
I think they are the simplest and clearest words that can express my feelings, as teammates. ㅎ I can express this with the most sincerity ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Gayhun: If I were to describe 언니 (older sister)… I think I would choose “동심” (childlike innocence), “INFTPJ”, and “무데뽀 (むてっぽう)” (reckless) ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

It sort of turned into a global-scale analysis, but since she has a vivid imagination, loves cute things, and is full of curiosity, the first thing that came to mind was a childlike spirit. Also, regarding her MBTI—she’s an INFP, but she switches to a “T” (Thinking) type when dealing with people she’s close to.
She also draws a clear line between the professional and the personal, acting like a “J” (Judging) type when she works; so, I ultimately decided her special MBTI is “INFTPJ.”
Finally, I used the term “무데뽀 (むてっぽう)” (reckless/impulsive) because I personally tend to worry a lot before starting anything.
I’m the type who overthinks things, whereas she’s someone who jumps straight into action, asking, “What’s the point of worrying and agonizing over it?” I’ve always felt that this trait of hers has a positive influence on me, which is why I described her as “무데뽀”.

Q) On page 0 it said “As the pages turn, the story continues, and someone else will eventually become part of this record” (페이지가 넘어갈수록 이야기는 계속 이어지고, 누군가는 또 이 기록에 함께하게 될 것이다). Who is this “someone”? Your fans, future members, other people or perhaps people you haven’t met yet? 

A) To speak briefly about this part, I think we will leave the standard of who “someone” refers to as an open-ended story that everyone can interpret personally.  

Q) What job field did you see yourself working in before entering the idol industry?

A) Chaeeun:  Hmm…… I used to be a taekwondo athlete, but I really didn’t want to do taekwondo… and I think I didn’t imagine anything else (besides being an idol) because I thought, “If I’m not a celebrity, there’s no reason for me to live!”  

Gahyun: Since I had been preparing for the idol industry from such a young age, I’ve always wondered what I would be doing if it weren’t in this field… Honestly, I can’t really imagine what I would be like outside of this field. So it still remains a question to me.

Q) What are some groups or artists you idolize?

A) Chaeeun: For me it’s always been Apink 선배님(senior), without ever changing. It makes me really sad that I have never gotten to meet them even once while preparing and doing broadcast activities ㅠㅠ They were always kind, treated their fans so well, so talented, and were so enjoyable to watch. Even now, they remain the same, so I really admire and like them a lot. No, actually, I love them! 

Gahyun: The artist I admire is IU 선배님(senior) and the groups and artists I like are always changing. These days though, I’ve been interested in Fruits Zipper (J-pop group) and Matsumoto Karen (member of Fruits Zipper)

Q) What has it been like being in a duo compared to having previously been in groups?

A) I think groups and duos each have very clear advantages and disadvantages. There is too much to talk about in detail, so to put it briefly, I think the things that were advantages when we were a group become disadvantages when we are a duo, and the things that are advantages when we are a duo were disadvantages when we were a group.

Q) What is the most important page in NOTES’ journey so far?

A)  Since so far there is only PAGE 1, it is difficult to answer, but I think all of the pages in the future will probably play an important role in our journey.  

Q) If you could look at the final page of NOTES right now, what would you hope has been written on it?

A) Chaeeun: What I truly hope for is that before, we never really got to say our final goodbyes properly, so I want to be able to say them sincerely and truly end with “The End”. However, I would like our book to become a series ㅎㅎ

Gahyun: Honestly, I don’t know for our team, NOTES, if there is a final page. I guess I’ll leave it to everyone’s imagination… I want the story to remain open and to let your imagination run wild on what happens next.
